Chris, again that’s not the issue. We have a whole process in place. They do the burn ins of subtitles.
my only issue is giving them a high quality QT out of FCP that won’t be too large for them to burn the subtitles onto.

I don’t think they can work with Pro res, So I’ll send them .h264. Hopefully the file size will be smaller.

Thanks Chris, That’s not the issue for me. Yes, I’m creating the graphic text. The issue is sending a high quality video to the Translators, so they can burn subtitles, and send it back to me, and I’ll lay in the graphics then I’ll can give a high quality QT file to my clients.

My question is what kind of file should I send the translators using their FTP site, so the files stay in high quality for me to import back into FCP and finish them with graphics? I’m worried that the file sizes will be too large and take all day to upload to their ftp.

Thanks for your responses. Perhaps I didn’t explain this well enough. I’m not creating the DVD. I’m giving the client a Quicktime file with subtitles burned on and I’m replacing their on-screen graphics with graphics in the new language. The videos will be used for DVDs that they will create as well as web videos.

S o all subtitles need to be burned onto the video (quicktime). Thats why I’m looking for suggestions.

Did you do this yourself or did you hire someone? I’m wondering if that’s a pre-created template, or was that designed for you?

I really like how the samples move, but we weren’t clear at first that they were your video samples. I wonder if there’s a way to label them.

As always thanks for all of the advice. I think we’re getting further away from what the client wants.

The just want to have a reference file that they can refer to of the actual screen with PPT on it. Typically a presenter for this conference will use a laser pointer to point to specific parts of the screen.

To do this we typically use a DVcam and record the screen with an unmanned camera. This client wants this capability, but doesn’t want to be stuck with 30 hours of footage to digitize. He’s asking for some kind of camera that can record via firewire to some kind of digital video recorder. Thoughts?
