December 13, 2012 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Get rid of weird line movement on edges as images spin?I do use the 3D filter in the perspective plugin folder. I tried the crop but it doesn’t crop at the same angle that the video is altered. So if the video is tilted at an angle the crop will just crop a edge straight across rather than at an angle. Don’t know if there is a way to crop differently.

October 20, 2012 at 12:50 pm in reply to: What causes out of sync? using dslr and h4n zoomSo I think its solved for at least now.
Found this thread: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1155930I changed the audio speed to 100.09% and everything synced up fine.
Have no clue why this all of a sudden happen after a year and a half of never receiving this problem with this same set up. My zoom is funky from time to time and I have had to factory restart it so maybe it’s an issue with that?
EDIT:
actually it’s still doing it. This is totally weird. The speed change synced up an hour and a half presentation, but having trouble on a 5 minute clip.

October 20, 2012 at 11:24 am in reply to: What causes out of sync? using dslr and h4n zoomI’m cutting on FCP7 and was syncing with Pluraleyes.
I don’t think the TC rate thing I found is an issue because I looked back on older projects and some the audio TC is 23.98 and some its 25 and this is the first time I experienced audio out of sync.
Andrew, maybe FCP is changing the audio rate. How do I go about checking that this isn’t done?

October 20, 2012 at 10:53 am in reply to: What causes out of sync? using dslr and h4n zoomBoth of them are 48.0 KHz.
I thought it might be because I was trying to keep it in H264 when I usually convert to prores. But I just converted and there is still an issue with it.
ALTHOUGH: I dug into the audio info and noticed it has ‘TC rate’ set to 25. I’m gonna assume thats the issue. I had no clue my zoom could even be switched to different rates or even how it possibly could’ve of done that.
I’m looking for ways to convert 25 audio to 23.978 footage but not coming up with anything yet. Any suggestions?

Just wanna include a reply to this as I was having the same issue and found this thread on google.
I had a .mp4 that wouldn’t open in quicktime or mpeg streamclip.
Ended up using a program called iSkysoft Video Converter. Converted it to a .mov then used mpeg streamclip to further convert it to pro res for FCP editing. Other converting programs may be able to do the same thing though.

I feel like mine does the same thing. I once had a shoot and the zoom was literally draining brand new batteries in like 5 minutes. I ended up doing a factory restart and that helped, so maybe try that. I knew someone that said they were going thru batteries like crazy and it was a short circuit in the zoom

Try going thru the trashing pref’s and stuff.
This happens to me from time to time. Got no clue why, its just random. Sometimes if I restart and trash prefs it works fine. Sometimes I just gotta wait a day and it will work again.

Thanks for the responses guys.
So Ned, do you ask for the estimate of travel upfront? Or put all the travel expenses on your credit card then ask for an immediate payment of the total?

Thanks for the feedback Nick. I’ve only had a couple clients that I’ve done this with, but I haven’t minded because it saves me time. These types of projects are interview types where there a 20 minute interview and it has to be chopped down to 2 minutes. If they wanna go through it a pick out all the best quotes, just saves me the trouble of doing it. I’d never do this for any sort of commercial type video where its a promo, narrative, with broll and such.
But I can see how it could open a can of worms if they expect it on all projects and end up doing the directing like you said.
