Hi Patty, just how bad is it? This is every shooter’s nightmare. Is it possible to post a Photo here? I never shoot in Auto anything, and use several tools on site to confirm sharpness. Auto focus indicates that it drifts in and out of focus. Is this so with the footage? I’d mask the area of the face/torso and do two things add a tad of Sharpening and at the same time Blur and drop the Contrast of the background. All this depends just how “challenged” the Subject looks.
This is all at Vegas level. The are other tools including the 3rd party Neat Video I’d reach for and then there is yet another toolset used in AVISynth way above my pay grade.
So, let’s see just how “bad” it is, yes? I’m having to think that you wouldn’t be posting here if you felt it wasn’t a bit salvageable.

I don’t understand? The OP wanted to place a 4:3 Video into an exsisting 16:9 plate. And reviewing that 15 minute YT, unless I totally missed it, the video doesn’t appear to, nor sets out to, address this particular, excuse the pun, ASPECT.
However, and most usefully, the video does address how to make 3 frame Sizes when working with 4:3 videos from exsisting 4:3 Videos. That’s a good thing. But that’s not what’s being asked for here: How to get 4:3 into 16:9 plate. OTOH, Michael, if you did registered that in the 15 minute, nicely put together video on creating different Frame Sizes (not ratios) and Bitrate Templates to make different end-sized file sizes, and making Template Notes, please illuminate me. I didn’t pick that up.

Not unusual for me. What you need to do, as you are using Masks is to Select from the Compositing Mode Switch, the Multiply (Mask) option:

None. What you need to know is that not all MP3 Media are the same. MP3 is only a wrapper. It’s what’s inside that’s important to any player in how they will DECODE it for importing and playing. I’m guessing that you’ll come acros the LAME CODEC. Here’s an interesting test using MediaInfo (MI):
1) Interrogate your MP3 with MI.
2) Now Render that WMA File you have, within VP to MP3 and then interrogate this new MP3 with MI.
3) Now Contrast and Compare the two MP3 files.
Do you see a difference? Thinks LAME.
Anyway, where did you get the MP3s? Or capture them?
