Hmm… Definitely something outta whack.

Understand I took a screen grab from here, so this is not your original footage. I wanted to get some empirical science on this.

Here’s the Top sample with a Range of Scopes:

What do I garner from this?

1] It would appear your BG hasn’t changed, but you have. Looking at the Scopes of the BG they appear to be stable. This in turn for me eliminates a set of causes for the change in White Balance.

2] This means, IMO, that either you’ve changed the white balance during your green screen session and/or your lighting has changed and/or you’ve introduced some form of saturation or colour correction whilst in Vegas. What I do notice that in the Top specimen you are leaning forward. Could this have affected the illumination/colour of yourself? Had you placed a front light illuminating your upper torso? Look at your tie. When you lean backwards it is NOT as red as when you are leaning forward.

Interesting.

Is this a rendered-out video? Or are you still on the Timeline?

Do you have Scopes available in your version of MSP? It looks as if the White Balance has shifted the during process, weird. And having Scopes will empirically show you what is happening and where in the process.

It’s not just the redness in the top specimen, it’s also the BG video in the lower sample is blueish. Your skin appears, IMO, sickly and the BG looks blueish too. For some reason there’s the appearance of some shifting of saturation and/or contrast.

I like the Green Screening. Very good separation. Nicely lit. Just a thought: Had the lighting altered during the sequence? Is the BG a Still? I noticed that the traffic lights hadn’t change from Red.

Interesting. Need more facts.

I’d also like to know why only making all the thumbnails appear makes the BG transparent? It really should not have a bearing on this. Hmm…???? That doesn’t make sense. Unless this somehow wakes up the program to do something that it should. If that’s the case then that’s a leak of functions, and waaay above my pay grade. But I’m glad we got there.

OK, Todd, lets take this paragraph by paragraph.

In Preferences you have the option to Display all the Thumbnails of “Frames” within the Event on the Timeline. Very useful for tracking issues like this one we are discussing.

Here’s that setting in our Preferences:

The Quote button here in the COW will automatically Italicize.

Yes. On your Timline at 9seconds there is a Text Event. So, with Preview in the SG, one prior to that Event, one on that Event and one after, that Event. I truly want to see what you are NOT seeing in your Preview. Forget about “lagging” for the moment. As was said in Dragnet: “Just give me the facts – man!”

No, not duration but the Event that appears at the 9 second mark – it is starting just prior to the 9 second mark? Yes/no?

Well, from what I’m seeing that whole Event has a white fill? That would obscure anything below. This goes back to what I asked you: Please show ALL your frames so we can see them.

Yes, that’s true. However from what I am seeing I can’t tell if ALL your BGs are transparent.

Show me. I’m not seeing this to be the case – yet! (PS, you can also use Ctlr+I for italicize – just did it and again)

Have you got your Preferences to so ALL Frames? Presently I can’t see how your Lyrics could be seen through your Track1? They look as if they should be seen around 9 Secs? Is that correct?

Can I see a SG just prior to where the Cursor hits the Lyrics and then ON the Lyrics and then one after?

I’m also noting that you’ve stretched out that Event on T1. Is there anything that is repeating that would obscure the Lyric track below?

If I was doing this I’d have the Lyric track, that’s Text with a Transparent BG, at T1.
