  • I’d try and query someone like the BBC or any of the long-established studios who might have done some work in restoring old recordings.

Thanks John, yes… a thought I’ll be investigating ASAP. Although it looks like most players won’t “mixdown” to the stereo analogue outputs, if the SPDF/Digital out isn’t connected.

  • Thanks Gunleik, yes I’m being a little lazy by not simply re-encoding the original files. There are songlists involved (my bracket lists for playing certain songs at certain types of gigs… eg wedding, party, small pub, etc)and these would have to be rebuilt as well.
I was just hoping for a kind of “turn off the WMP protection with a button” kind of answer.
    Never mind.

    Cheers, Graeme.

Rode have a new microphone out that might suit you. I haven’t heard it myself, but the rest of their range is very impressive for the price.

Yes, maybe I should be thinking more “outside the square” about sound-proofing and monitoring, etc. Very good point. Thanks.

My wife would call my efforts a “boys look”, which is apparently not very efficient. Thanks again.

June 6, 2005 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Loops, looping and Cubase SX 2…opinions please?

Thanks David, actually, I’ve been doing this a million years and started way bay with Cubase 1.1 and eventually an Alesis D4. These days, Battery 2 is my drum of choice (although BFD is tempting). I do a lot of complex midi programming.
I’m just trying to get my head around this looping business a bit better for my own education.

    Cheers, Graeme.
