    Dave,

I thought I would chime in on this thread after reading your comment about the “shimmery transitions and images” you mentioned in your original post.

I think I also experienced that very same issue when I put together a wedding slideshow. My project contained 3 slideshows totaling about 170 JPG photos that I had professionally scanned by DigMyPics. I only used one transition throughout the whole project.

I never saw the shimmering (or what I like to call “blurring”) during play back (previewing) within Encore. When I played the burned DVD back on my computer or any other DVD player, I would get the shimmering.

I my case, when the DVD was played and the image was displayed on the screen it would appear crystal clear for about 1 second. Then the image would blur or shimmer just moments before the transition taking effect. Only after playing it on a LCD monitor I finally realized how it was blurring. The blurring or shimmering looked like it was caused my mixing or overlaying another image. The image being mixed in was the very next image in the slideshow. You could tell because the outline of the image matched the next slide.

I used the very same photos and built the project with Nero Vision, one of the tools in Nero 7 Ultra Edition. It created the DVD slide show perfectly.

I made several coasters in the pursuit of trying all the different transcoding options within Encore without any success.

Is that how you would describe the shimmering?
