    That plugin looks quite decent.

What I would do though, is just save presets for different sizes and alignments in the pan crop window of a track. So if you wanted the screen split vertically in 3 tall ‘snapchat’ style screens, you could have one track for the left side, another track for the middle, and the last for the right.

Which is how I did this video entirely in Vegas, with the deform plugin to bend the shape of the screens – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKerjKsbSss The frame, floor and chair parts were just photoshop. With the 3 tracks set up for a screen each, it was easy to just drop the footage into each. No need to use After Effects for stuff like this 🙂

  • Hello Boris, many thanks for the reply. Actually I do have the transparency working now. The mistake I made was thinking that was an adjustment that needed to be made from within Red itself. Although if I turn on the alpha channel of the clip in Vegas first, and then apply Red as a plugin, it works.

Now, the problem is that I’m now unable to open additional files with alpha channels in Red. Plus, I’m also getting an error telling me the codec isn’t supported, even though I’m still using the same Cineform format files. Anyway, I’ll make up a couple of really small versions of these video clips and send them off to tech support.

Ideally I’d like to composite around 4 or 5 clips with alpha channels within Red, along with a background clip and add any effects I need there. So within Vegas the composite will be a single clip I can edit more easily.

    Hi Peter,

    Thanks for the reply again.

Yes, I have just have the blur set to a standard 180°. I just don’t see any change when I view parts of the video that contain fast movement where it should be visible.

I’d like to try BCC motion blur though, but haven’t been able to work out how to select the source layer it tells you to do in the help docs. When I add the plugin to my chain, the soccer ball ‘video 1’ photo appears which makes things a bit confusing. Is there a simple way of using that?

    Regards,

    Glenn

    Hi Peter,

Many thanks for the step by step instructions! I think my mistake was creating the background track as a layer on it’s own. It’s all working fine now, thanks. Also, I think your reply ended up being posted before my earlier post.

Now I’ve come up against another stumbling block. The track motion blur doesn’t appear to be making any difference? But I’ll keep at it 🙂

It’s alright, I’ve figured it out… A background track Ctrl+Alt+V needs to be inserted into the Light Wrap plugin itself. Then select the image, video etc to use as the light wrap within that background track.
