Call avid Licensing…that is what they are there for.

You didn’t mention what type of Avid you have…a subscription or a maintenance purchase. The type you are paying for will dictate which plugins you are entitled to. (A maintenance purchase doesn’t come with as many bells and whistles)

Pic in PIc doesn’t typically affect the clip on a lower track…resize usually will.
Have you tried adding the curl first, and then alt add the pic in pic effect?

I think you need two items. Your matte, as you have it, and your triangle, created with the border, keyable, as a regular graphic. (Make it in photoshop over black with an alpha channel)

Matte key your footage using the method it sounds like you are doing now…matte on video 3, fill on video 2, background on video 1.

Then add a keyable element for the finishing touch on Video 4, you should be able to size it in MC to whatever is needed to cover your Pic in pic underneath.

or just add it directly to the item you want to effect rather than the track above it.

You can multi-select items on your timeline …connected or not, and add double click the effect to add to multiple items at once.

I use Shane’s method if i want to do 90 percent of a timeline, but if its only everyother shot…like camera A but not B, i’ll do one of the other techniques.

You are still missing the point. It still sounds like you are trying to output an odd shaped frame.

FIgure out what you want your final custom frame size to be. ..say 1920 x 500 make a project in resolve that is that size.
(if you are just trying to get your odd shaped footage to fill a regular screen, then thats a different process)

Import your media, and don’t allow resolve to adjust the project settings when it brings in the clips.

make your timeline, and resize your shots using the inspector to fill the frame you are now presented with.

Go to delivery page and output a file of 1920 x 500 (or what ever you are looking for) and you should have no black bars.

But it all starts by knowing what you want this frame size to be in the first place.

For issues like this…if you paid Avid for an upgrade, and it isn’t working, call Avid. Thats the only way you are going to resolve a licensing issue.

what is the frame size of your project? Is it the same size you want your final video to be in, or is it 1920×1080?
(honestly, not sure if you can do custom project sizes in Resolve…never tried…but i would start by looking at that)

The only time i’ve had issues is when someone else in the shop had a computer with Eucon software on it.

My panel was always linking up to his computer.

I am now in my own shop, with a Color panel, Transport panel, and Artist control panel.

All 3 run perfectly in MC, Resolve doesn’t see the transport, but recognizes the color panel everytime the computer boots up in the morning. It will also use the Artist Control panel for all the mapped keystroke functions…which is more of a windows thing than a Resolve thing.

I haven’t struggled to get it to recognize the color panel for years…again, running windows.

Your idea of switching your timeline from 4K to HD might work. As long as all your frame rates are the same, as you can’t adjust that after the fact in Resolve. If not, try making 2 projects in resolve.

1 for the 4 k shots, 1 for the hd shots
In Premiere break your sequences into those same setups, and export a list for each setup.

bring the shots into their respective Resolve timeline, color and output.

Back in Premiere, rebuild the individual sequences into 1 sequence.
