Download the latest Desktop Video from blackmagic. You will find it in the support section under the card you own.
Set it up to handle what ever format you are working with in in the preferences settings. Within Avid there is a shortcut to these preferences as well…video output tool? or hardware output tool? something like that.

Hi Dave, i’m having trouble finding much info on this, hoping you might be able to help. I’m stuck trying to get this card to work. I get the thunderbolt icon in the bottom right corner, id’ing my drive, but the drive doesn’t appear on “my computer” In my device manager i’m getting an error stating that i don’t have enough resources available to use the card. (New dual cpu z820, 24 gigs ram, k4000 video card. My question is did you have to muck with the bios settings to get your test card to work? HP support doesn’t know much about the card right now, so they aren’t much help.
Anything you can remember about setting it up may help.

Not sure how many shots you are dealing with, or where this was originally cut, but it seems to me the “easiest” way to do this is to get the offline edit program to do the exact thing you need Resolve to do.
(Media manage your original edits towards new sources)If it was cut in Avid, go to avid and to a batch recapture of all the vfx shots, selecting the originals first and pointing avid to the new location. Create an AAF and reconform that timeline in Resolve.
The question then becomes, “Is a half hour back in Avid quicker than doing them manually in resolve?”Resolve has its editing capabilities, but they are still not there for a full offline workflow (yet). What you are asking for is as much (if not more of) an editing request as a conform request.

does your Pro Res files tc match the original tc? Perhaps the problem occured when the original prores files were created?.

It depends on your animation style and how much needs to change each week.
Unfortunately, if you need the content to be different, you either need to design your animations in a way that makes it easy to drop in your new footage on top of the old animation, or you are going to have to re edit it every time. There is no magic button that will link place holders to parts of you sequence or anything like that. (not that i’m aware of anyway)Probably the easiest thing to do is to make a project called Open animation template.
Build your opening in that project.
create a new project for every other show. From within those individual projects, do a File/open bin, and work your way back to the template project, and open that bin.
Load that animation sequence into your source side, cut it into the timeline and adjust the shots that need to be changed.

Delete your database and have Avid rebuild it.
Where does avid say it is looking for the missing media?
In your bin view, turn on your drive or storage location column. It will usually list the last place it had the media. if that is the same drive you are currently using, than perhaps deleting your database and rebuilding it will help. If it is pointing to a different location, then you know something got created in the wrong spot, and you may have to find the originals.You can also do a manual search for the media in the mxf/1 folder…or what ever folder you think it should be in. If it is there and Avid isn’t seeing it, than delete the database and have Avid rebuild it.

Have you tried the audio mixer? I don’t use the rubber band tool for Audio adjustment, so i don’t know if those values show up in the mixer interface or not.

I don’t know about premiere, but i’m pretty sure the only way you will get timecode out of Avid is with an XLR cable, and a Nitris box.
