I’m running windows 7 (64bit) with Avid MC 8.4 and Avid DS. Both programs see the codec for read/write, but in my situation they were installed with 8.4, not as a separate install.

Can’t speak to how other programs on other os’s will react.

is your ama setting set to auto detect, or have you specifically told it to link to the c300 footage. (sometimes autodect is bit flakey)

Also, I would try the Alt drag method.

open a bin in avid
open an explorer/finder window on your screen, Make your way to the c300 folder you want to access. Click on it, and as you drag it to your bin, hold down the alt button. This is another way of doing an ama link, and I find it quite usefull. (if avid says its creating media cancel and try again, as the keystrokes were released too soon, or done in the wrong order) I find quite often I have to hold the alt button and the mouse button for an extra second or two over the bin before releasing to get the computer to accept what im doing.

Resolve doesn’t automatically mark in to out on your entire timeline.

There is an icon/button on the far right of the delivery page for that. (That buggered me up yesterday on show 2)

I just did another one…so its fresh in my mind.

In avid I duplicate the sequence and transcoded/consolidated the media to a new folder. (30 frame handles)

export aaf to resolve.

In resolve brought everything in, coloured, rendered with round trip preset. (30 frame handles) I think if your handles don’t match you may have issues.

back in avid imported the aaf that Resolve automatically created into a new bin.

brought in the media. Upon the database build, all was good.

did you call up resolves “round trip” preset, or create your own?

If you do the preset, resolve will automatically output a new aaf for you…usually 1 level up from where you told it to render your media. I have had better luck using that aaf, than one I’ve manually created in resolve.

If you did anything to the timeline- timing wise- you need to do an export “create new aaf” inside resolve.

I’m on site for a job right now, and did the show open yesterday using resolve and the round trip actually worked like a damn the first time I tried it.

I believe the comment from avid was that the old downloaders are no longer going to be on the website, but I think it does say somewhere in the download maze that you can contact support for older versions.

I think there may be some settings in the aaf export that could cause an issue. Something tells me there is a “mixdown audio effects” or something like that. I know you can render your audio as part of the aaf creation, but I wouldn’t think that would do anything bad…but then again, I never use that option.

If you aren’t getting the pop up in Windows 8, then that is a bug. I know it has been there in Windows 7 for years.

To be honest, I had the same issue 4 or 5 years ago, but I read the manual, watched a couple of tutorials, and figured out what I was doing wrong. (yes, I was the one in the wrong)

Calling the workflow itself a bug is in inaccurate statement. Now that you all know how it works, who can say it is incorrect?

Asking for a feature request is different than complaining about a bug.

Drive issues not withstanding, you could always consolidate to a local drive and copy the files across. If you use a drive hasn’t previously used, those would be the only files in the AvidMedia Files/mxf/1 folder.

If you have room to consolidate on your ssd raid, rename your 1 folder to something else…say Project raw media and then Avid will make a new 1 folder when it does the consolidate. You can then copy that new 1 folder to your external drive.

For the drive itself, I’d say check your media creation setting to make sure your drives aren’t being filtered out, but if you can put a different drive in there and it is visible, then I’m not sure what the issue is. Have you tried reformatting the drive?
