Yeah. That’s what I’m thinking as well. I thought it was because I had the video in the timeline still. But when I removed it the file size stayed the same.

Thanks again for trying to help! Maybe someone else will stumble upon this thread and have some advice.

From looking at three audio folders for three days of filming they have 4.85gb, 13gb, and 13.11gb respectively. That’s the on-set audio itself. Lots of poly wav files. 1-2 boom mics, 2 lavs, operator’s mix for L and R channels.

Is it possible that the file is genuinely that large (5.58gb)? I completed a feature film of mine this last year with the same system and same re-recording mixer. It was a 90 minute film and the three reels I sent him (30ish minutes each) were all around 3gb each, so 9gb altogether.

This short film is must 24 minutes. We had a different sound mixer but both used poly wav files and had a comparable number of channels/tracks per file.

Thanks for clarifying. I went back and double checked. No range was selected so the MP3 size would still be 47.7mb. I switched the option to WAV and the full file estimate is 429mb.

I keep trying various tests and ideas to see why the AAF is ending up at 5.58gb and no luck so far. :/

And for reference, the XML I’m making the AAF from (via X2Pro) is only 1.8 MB.

    Thanks again for any advice!

    Thanks so much, Tangier.

I gave the audio only export a shot. That MP3 file is just 48 mb.

Discard disabled clips & Discard inactive clips were both selected before.
The trim handles are set to 5 seconds.

When I took out the video previously the file size didn’t change at all, which I thought was odd.

Update: When unchecking the “trim embedded audio” the AAF grows to around 19 GB.
