Thanks a lot Tim, you really cleared up my confusion. I just have one more question Ive been reading around and noticed some people for DSLR and other HD videos set their project settings to DV and not HDV, wont that cause issues since the footage is HD or does it not matter?

Hmm I have to update mine as well, its just I never faced this issue. The quality of the video is perfect just the colors go slightly dull on VLC. Anyway I’ll just update my VLC and see how it goes.

I set up the export settings myself its:

H.264

width 1920
height 1080
framerate 24fps
field order progressive
aspect square pixels 1
TV standard PAL (thats what the camera was set to)
profile Main
Level 4.1
Render at maximum depth – Unchecked

Bitrate encoding VBR, 2 pass
target bitrate 10
max bitrate 50

This is exactly how I exported it.

Now what baffles me is that I have used these same render settings in the past over and over and never had issues today for some reason VLC is giving me issues.

I do want to mention that in my sequence settings I just disabled “Composite in Linear Color” and rendered again and got slight improvement in VLC. Could it just be that VLC is difficult cause when I take a video snapshot of the Rendered and the Original and set them side by side they look exactly the same.
