Thanks again John. Yes I did notice the black bands.

so if i understand correctly, this is normal and there is no way to avoid these when going from HD to DVD?

Thanks Bill. I’m afraid that’s what I’ll have to do. Seems silly that I can’t maintain the fade.

If anyone knows how to override this behaviour, we’re all ears 🙂

1. would it make sense to use “NTSC DV Widescreen (720×480, 29.970 fps)” as this would allow me to crop the images a bit without losing definition?

2. my footage was recorded in avchd 1080 30 fps.

3. is 1080p the same ratio as DVD (not blue-ray)??? and is it the same as 720×480?

Hi Aleksey,
I’ll clarify. If you view the video bus track (Ctrl-shift-B), and then right-click in that track, then “insert-remove-envelope” and select Motion-Blur Amount… you can effectively/easily set motion blur for the video.

I had never had a use for the “bypass” option/button you pointed out, therefore had completely disregarded it.

Exactly what I was looking for. Now I can set the motion blur using the video bus track motion-blur envelope (sorry, I had originally said “master track” which is incorrect) and set set the bypass switch on the track(s) which hold background. VOILA! No keyframing of effects required, easy-peasy motion blur.

yes, that’s what pretty close to what I’m looking for. As stated, I’m looking for the motion blur effect found when one uses the master track motion blur feature.

That simple 🙂

What I like about this feature is its simplicity of use. Am (was) hoping to find the equivalent for a single track without having to add several effects and/or keyframing to the movement. Which I assume is what you did in your example. Correct?
