motion blur for track?
Posted by Gilles Gagnon on October 23, 2013 at 1:38 pmhi folks,
I know I can set a motion blur effect by using the built-in effect of the master track. BUT….How do I add motion blur to a singe track? Ie. a title on an upper track A is moving over track B (which has motion)
I want the title to have motion blur but not the event on track B.

October 23, 2013 at 2:04 pmThanks Graham. I try to refrain nesting, I find it complicates my projects. So far, I’ve never had to nest 🙂
Is nesting the only way?

Looks like a good effect. A little steep price-wise but looks good.I’m assuming there is no free method. Odd that the effect exists for the master track but not for regular tracks.

October 24, 2013 at 10:21 amOK, I understand you wish/want to have Motion Blur on JUST the incoming Text? Correct? In which case have a close look at my “This Is London!”. All of the Text Event’s movement/motion/blur was achieved using SONY Media and SONY FX-ing, no 3rd Party. Below the Text Event are 2 Track Layers of video composited together to form a Screen Backdrop. It’s rough but I believes this achieves a lot of what you want. If you see this and want to have something more/other, then say so.
Cheers

yes, that’s what pretty close to what I’m looking for. As stated, I’m looking for the motion blur effect found when one uses the master track motion blur feature.
That simple 🙂
What I like about this feature is its simplicity of use. Am (was) hoping to find the equivalent for a single track without having to add several effects and/or keyframing to the movement. Which I assume is what you did in your example. Correct?

I’m not familiar with (and couldn’t find in Vegas Help) the Master Track Motion Blur you are referring to. Possibly I’m not understanding what the full effect of what you are trying to do. I just put a video event on track 2 (my “background”) and a Sony Media Generators: Default Text event on track 1. I added the Sony Linear Blur FX to the track 1 text and then keyframed (animated) the Angle: 0.00 (horizontal blurr) and Amount: 0.110 at keyframe 1 (time 0.00). I set this keyframe to be “fast”. I then added a second keyframe at time: 1.00 and changed the Amount value to 0.00. I then set my Media Generator text Placement to be offscreen left at time 0.00 with a “fast” transition type and a second Placement keyframe at time 1.00 to be centered on the screen. The effect is similar to Graham’s sample, with the text offscreen and blurred as it moves toward the center of the screen. By the time it (slows down) and hits the center of the screen (at 1.00 second), the text “motion blur” has subsided. All this while the video track underneath it is unaffected.
