I found more details about how it works on their site and have a better understanding of exactly that issue.

Not so bad. Got by without nested sequences with Prem 6.5 for years. Downside is the way they do track mattes now will restrict the kinds of effects possibel with track mattes. But I will probably not be able to explain track mattes to the user anyway.

Wings is getting past the budgets that I had hoped for. I downloaded Synchmaker a while ago but never tested it. 4 questions – how is edge blending – can an element move across the panorama from projector to projector like a crawl – can the play list be changed on the fly – the last will come to me

Acrobat Reader IS still free. It is the creator that is expensive – CAN$600 The clones are in the $100 range – still a lot to create a file when you compare to the price of QuickTime or Zip. At least if MS creates their own standard for a web document, then like the Windows Media creation programs, it will likely be free. Yes the catch is you need to buy Windows, but 95 percent of the world is already doing that anyway. And I am willing to bet they will provide a free MAC based reader as well. Probably even offer to licence the code to Apple, but it will be Apple that will refuse to do so. A bit like Real Media. Once MS got its act together there is little reason left to create Real Media files. Or even QT files unless you are selling mainly to that slim 5 percent. PPro no longer comes with the Real Media encoder. Next version will likely come out with the Flash video encoder which now offers featurs that neither QT or WM offer.

The PDF format is pretty well proprietary as well, even if a few open source creation programs exist. Tried a few of the not-free PDF creation clones – but when Adobe creates a new standard of PDF, then the clones become out of date. Nobody makes a competing reader either AFAIK. And the adobe reader is rapidly becoming ad-ware as well.

It gets clearer now. The price list the dealer here in The Great White North gave me does not identify multidisplay Master and Slave Modules as separatly priced features, which led me to arrive at that low cost. Sort of: Here is a great deal on a car – Oh you want wheels as well? I had always expected to budget for computers and computer hardware. Thankyou for your feedback.

Tried it for the first time today – only a 1 minute clip. First time through PPro crashed when selecting a preset. Second time worked like a charm. For a play-on-load disk, it is less hassle then exporting m2v and authoring with DVDit or encore. But it only makes play-on-load ( first paly) DVDs. It does however create chapters quite nicely, which was a surprise. Where will I use it? For fast approval copies on DVD

There is some very nice stuff there. Some of the high motion stuff is a bit too compressed though. If by lifestyle you mean sport – skiing, snowboarding and watersports in particluar, there are enough clips to take on Warren Miller.

What does Procoder do that Premiere does not? If the image needs rescaling by 6 pixels does procoder do a better job than PPro?

Not sure I understand – how does procoder solve this problem?
