Select them all with the arrow tool and choose a fill?
Add a fill effect to one and paste it to all?

At the most basic level, a circle with a stroke (but no fill) and the trim paths animator will do the trick for the edge. Then it looks like they used an animated circle as a track matte for the main body of the logo. Create a circle that covers the entire inside of the logo, animate its scale from 0-100 and then animate its position from the bottom corner of the logo to dead center where it covers the whole thing. Place that on top of the main body logo layer and on the main body logo layer select Alpha Matte as the track matte. Those two things should get the animation for you.

This would be division:
zlead=thisComp.layer(“leaderlayer”).transform.position[2];
zpos= zlead/index;
[value[0],value[1],zpos]But I recommend doing it differently because the values aren’t going to be consistent, for example, when you switch from positive to negative numbers. Instead, I recommend using a multiplier for the index and add (subtract because positive numbers are further back in z space) that. Something like this:
zlead=thisComp.layer(“leaderlayer”).transform.position[2];
mult=100;
zpos= zlead+index*mult;
[value[0],value[1],zpos]Now in this case, the second layer will always be 100 behind the leader layer. If you apply the expression to the third layer in the timeline, it will always be 300 behind the leader layer. If you want to make it further, just change the number in the multiplier to be higher. Also, make sure to change the name of the ‘leaderlayer’ to whatever that layer is actually called.

This should work, paste in the position property. Change the name of the ‘leaderlayer’ to the name of the layer you want to take the y position from. Do remember though, since it doesn’t mock it in z space, changes in that will make it appear that the y positions aren’t linked because of parallax (even though they will be)
y=thisComp.layer("leaderlayer").transform.position[1];
[value[0],y,value[2]]“|_ (°_0) _|”

May 14, 2014 at 2:24 pm in reply to: My masks created from text aren’t working well in 3DVegas is just a stroke effect with some more options:

When I do write on effects, I just manually create a stroke that runs right through the center of the letter as a shape layer and make it thick enough to cover the letter, then use the trim paths animator and use that as a track matte for the letter. Thats how I got the effect of the letters revealing in this:

Obviously a lot more going on in that, but you can see how each letter actually writes on. It takes a little time to do, but you get a lot of control this way and have a lot more flexibility later in the project.

May 14, 2014 at 2:04 pm in reply to: My masks created from text aren’t working well in 3DJust create all of your layers in 2d first. Then once you have them, convert them to 3d. Then you can add a camera and place them where you want.
Also, something to think about, shape layers are typically much more flexible than masks and don’t have those kind of oddities. I understand you’re looking to do a stroke effect, so the masks are good for that, but you may consider using the vegas effect instead of the stroke if you decide to convert your text to shape layers instead.

May 14, 2014 at 1:52 pm in reply to: My masks created from text aren’t working well in 3DOkay, I took a look at it and figured out the problem.
You were creating your masks from 3d text layers after you created the camera. So the masks were reading the 3d position and being created off screen which means there was no solid behind them. To avoid this, create all your masks before adding a camera and make sure you can see them all on screen. Then make them 3d and add your camera/null. Now animate it however you want.

May 12, 2014 at 5:49 pm in reply to: My masks created from text aren’t working well in 3DHow about precomposing your write on effect, keeping that 2d, then using the precomp in the 3d comp? I’m having a little trouble understanding what all has been done.
