And the “tutorial” seems to use something you must buy.

Well there is no project. I just want a camera that can slide along its own local axis, without going into the viewport.

You can parent the camera to a null. When the null is rotated, the camera keeps sliding along its local axis. However, the null can’t be moved numerically along its local axis when rotated (same as an unparented camera can’t) so you replicate the problem. Plus, moving the camera itself along its local axis, creates a distance i.e. arm to the null which disturbs easy rotating.

It’s not about a specific rig. It’s just that the ae cam is very amateurish compared to a 3D application camera.

What I need is just a function where you get numeric local axis movement when you press a certain key. I don’t like dragging in the viewport.

The three functions Local, World and Viewport only work in the viewport when you grab the vectors.

Any null option tested, will create an arm between the rotation option and the local axis trick.

I found the camera tools from the menu are the best workaround: they are always local.

That is the switch I am looking for. It’s gone in CS6.

You can’t adjust a comp after the drag and drop action, and I don’t need to. The comp is truly 25 fps but there is a 30 fps discrepancy; the footage is one frame wide on the time line per frame, but the size of the frame has been derived from a 30 fps base.

    See the switch in CS4:

Don’t tell me to put the import still fps at 25: it is on 25 and it doesn’t help.

I have made my own library which contains ALL emittor libraries available. So that should cause problems. I thought this new big PC could handle that.

To fix this, I need your help. I made new emittors in the mega library. How can I create a library with only my new emittors in it? I have been trying all kinds of menu’s to save them somewhere but I had no succes so far.

I’m trying to adjust an emitter. It uses my own animation which is quite large in size but I want to be able to get highres closeups.

I’ve also installed and imported all emittors one can download, which may be too much.

However, I’ve got 48Gb Ram, 12 cores and a Quadro 4000, so my machine should be able to do heavy stuff.

As soon as I touch graph nodes, PI will crash after three attempts. I keep saving and restarting but it’s a nasty workflow.

    I am using Animator Pro.
The standing arc can be made with one slider within Animator Pro.
For a hanging arc I had to do a lot tweaking for each letter, which is not very userfriendly. 3D software is faster.
