I would almost certainly go with a designated DVD ripping application at this point. You might have to pay for good quality…I would look at Toast first…not sure if they are still updating a good product.

Yes. You can use both of these programs to accomplish the desired results. Moving the players will require masking the still image (cutting out the player) and using layers on top of each other.
Essentially, you’ll want to look into key frames, masking (pen tool), Vignetting/blur, and possibly motion tracking.
