Hi to anyone that is not getting sound to come in to After Effects or Premiere, I found a fix today, that may work for you.
On Sierra, I was having problems with .mov, .wav, and aiff. These files would play in preview, but not Quicktime, After Effects, or Premiere. Then I thought, what if it’s the codecs? I checked the /Library/Quicktime, and was surprised to only see 2 codecs!

I contacted a friend that had El Capitan still and asked if he could send me his codecs. Once I got those, I all of a sudden had 28 codecs! Just dropping in the codecs doesn’t work, you’ll also need to restart. For me, it was like boom!! finally!! it worked! Hope this works for you too.

Side note: it looks like the latest Sierra update is only shipping with 2 quicktime codecs. I checked a couple computers to verify this, so more may run into this issue once they switch to Sierra.
