Maybe you meant …”when it ones or zeroes to reality”…or is the Google translator just frighteningly superior to our everyday spelling and grammar checkers? 😉

[Shane Ross] “distribute, publicly display, publicly perform”

[Simon Ubsdell] Gotta love the classy way the spell “publicly” wrong in one paragraph and right in the other!

Not to mention the lack of proof reading.

Wow Shane- I was almost to the end of your post before I realized that this was not a parody but in fact the new reality of TV.
Another reason the “cloud” paradigm is unsettling.

This may be a stretch but the story of the man who lost his deceased daughter’s voicemail because the service provider deleted them is another alarm sounded. The poor guy lost this connection with his daughter for all time. It’s too bad he was unaware of the pitfalls and never made his own copies to protect this from happening. I believe however that this is the norm and too many rely on cyber ware which could be also referred to is cyber where? They don’t not physically possess the asset and believe that their irreplaceable media is protected into perpetuity. It’s out of their hands and their control.

The cloud should serve as an adjunct and convenience for sharing and distribution not an end all be all and major issues such as property and distribution rights are still to be determnined.

“Though slightly off topic (okay very OT), take a look at the free AVID 6 training series we at ProMAX are giving the world at a cost of zero dollars…”

David I appreciate the knowledge you have so freely shared over the years. You have taught me much and for that I am most grateful.

I mean no disrespect but I think however that you totally high jacked this thread. In this marketplace as Philip Hodgetts has pointed out, Free is a very viable business model. It builds brand awareness and attracts audience that builds community. It has been used by the biggest and best on the internet like Facebook, Youtube, WordPress to build a user base that can be than marketed to very conveniently for paid products or services. It’s actually quite brilliant, especially when it is executed to this level of success.

I certainly do not begrudge your right to make a living. In fact I hope you do because you give back and represent our industry in such a professional manner. I just don’t think it’s appropriate to introduce such an unrelated detour to this discussion.

    So I quite literally comprehend
    That if I were to further append;
    This thread with clever analogy
My conclusions would be considered fallacy.

    And though seemignly well endowed
By the analogies through which I plowed
Some of which are forever enduring
But played out in film would be quite boring.

I’ll be sure now to add a new meta tag
And clearly mark this thread a forum drag.

Thanks Tom, I just tried that but the search box was void of characters. When I click between the list and thumbnail views the clips are no longer visible in the event library viewer window. Going back to thumbnail view does not resotre them. Any sugggestions about resetting preferences or other suggestions?

I tried loading a template in Live Type and got a message This project uses a missing system font: “AppleMyungjo Regular.”
I have used Live Type in the past but never had this issue…How do I get a copy of this font and where do I install it? I searched my system but it doesn’t seem to exist.
