Fix for Sony Vegas 10 D not starting in windows 7… Do everything in the order I tell you, and it will work. It did for me! Yippy!
1 Disconnect any external USB or Firewire devices like hard-drives or dongles.
2 Turn off all anti-virus programs, as well as disabling any Registry Blockers, Spy Ware, Firewalls, etc.
3 Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features (in Windows 7, open Add or Remove Programs) – remove Vegas Pro 10
4 Remove the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR), any and all Microsoft .NET Framework versions, and the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable software if it is listed. I removed all of my Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable software 5 of them so some of my other programs did not work after… I reinstalled those programs and they are ok now too.
5 Once un-installed, delete the following folders:
A •C:Program FilesSony Vegas Pro 10 < this file… I did not have to delete the Shared Plug-Ins folder and you shouldn’t either
6 Next, Select Start and type REGEDIT in the ‘Start Search’ box.
7 In the Registry Editor, locate and delete the following registry entries…
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSony Creative Software Vegas Pro <<<<< just delete this file.... not the whole Sony Creative Software file!
8 Then go back and go into this file...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESony Creative Software Vegas Pro <<<<< just delete this file.... not the whole Sony Creative Software file!
Close the Registry Editor. Reboot your computer!
9 Now install your Sony Vegas software and reboot, and enjoy.
