  • Thank you for your response. I ended up just syncing the audio properly before placing it on the timeline. Now I’m trying to move music to a new track, and even while following your instructions it’s the most frustrating thing (I’m more of a visual learner). I think me and avid are not going to bond anymore after this. I do like a lot of elements in avid but I deeply wish somethings were more intuitive… I can’t even find any tutorials on moving audio in the timeline…

Update: So I just figured out how to do this, as mentioned above, I had to make a few more tracks, then I was able to move the audio down. *sigh* Thank you all for your help! Maybe, just maybe I will continue to use avid, I’m not totally convinced it’s a better workflow than FCP 7 or X (yet).

  • For anyone else having this issue lately, the easiest solution for me was to make a Duplicate sequence and change the “Sequence Settings”. In the box under “Quicktime Video Settings” change the “Compressor” for your sequence to anything else…mine was in an HDV setting, and I changed it to .H264. Feel free to change it to your codec of choice, but .H264 allowed me to view the sequence and render the project. Within my sequence was 2.5 hours of full HD footage, and it took about 2 hours to render with the .H264 codec. I hope this helps someone just looking for a straightforward solution. Best of luck!
