    I agree ,
cleanest keys as possible are a must in compositing , but would be TRUE gold in color correction (quite few times i had to say “i cannot key that , key can’t be clean enough because those 2 color are 2 similar (even though visually different (but than gets be done in flame /smoke (unsung just their keyer (seen it with my own eyes).

Resolve have a world class (probably best ) tracker , i guess could/should think of having the best keyer as well

i would pay as much as it cost , and i keep voting for RESOLVE costing 20K with panel only or 10K minimum as software only ,

in am ALL in for OFX plugIN , but i think that the keyer should be (if) improved in resolve , since it really is the heart of cc

resolve keyer is good , but honesty not has good as flame and smoke ,

autodesk have much deeper refining tools for the keyer , i think i can say that i know how to use the keyer ,

obviously i would if resolve had such a sophisticated keyer , not saying that the current is bad , but it could be better knowing the autodesk ones and what those can accomplish …

July 16, 2012 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Mixed R3D frame rates

last week i had almost the same issue but considerably worse : edit done mixing 23.98 and 29.97 on a 29.97 timeline .

off course FCP in that circumstance add pulldown (actually it repeat 1 frame every 5 ) and that is it , but resolve cannot do that , so as far as i know the only way to finish the R3D is to have 2 sessions : one for the 29.97 (EDL prepped on a 29.97 timeline ) and one for 23.98 having those shots copied and pasted on a 23.98 timeline (for edl)

than final conform somewhere else . it would be cool if resolve could apply progressive pulldown to shots for this kind of circumstance …

unless there is a workaround for this already ..

  • a gamut window and possibility of have larger windows would be fantastic : for instance i don’t need the audio window and that takes zoo much space , also i think the windows cold have thinner canvas (to leave more room for the actual scope )

May 17, 2012 at 11:34 pm in reply to: Round trip between Resolve and FCP

i never used the round trip because i usually pass along the graded shots to a SMOKE or Flame , but i do have 1 question :

the xml that resolve export , does reflect exactly what is going on on the resolve timeline ? meaning that if there is a shot slipped by a frame or so (by mistake) will be slipped in the FCP reconfirm right ?

how about speed changes frame blending versus non frame blending ?
meaning : if FCP have a speed change using blending mode , resolve will apply duplicated frames (not blended) so , after the roundtrip , will FCP use the same blending Mode ?

also : does resolve pass trough all the effect that dogs not support (like special effects etc..?)

    thanks
