If you repair your camera at your own shop some “window caulking” should stop stray metal splinters nicely. If you`re using a model with a newvicon camera tube viewfinder pickoff you had might as well get a circuit diagram and general mechanical instructions for it at the same time. In between newvicon tube replacements, adjusting beam volts (nudge just a bit more positive) and target volts (nudge negative) keeps things in trim.

Any polluted snow dust will eat (damage) the optical coatings off your outside- most lens surface immediately, so a lens window or conditions of no such problem are needed. Any grease in moving parts will stop moving, so choose dry moving parts. You`ll be putting your battery belts and canteen (hot or cold) inside of your coat. If you fog your lens with your breath don`t dream of wiping it off. And last, this snow shoveller`s wisdom, don`t open your zipper all the way or you can`t get it closed, don`t close your zipper all the way or you can`t get it open. That`s all. Fortunately, you guys are doing the brains and typing for me. Todd, the special detail monitor to use is called a magnifying glass. Also make workflow charts on paper so so going forward and backwards through the software will make sense.

Phillip, the next step is to go to a computer repair shop and have the technician toss in all the usual corrections to Windows that speeds things up. Remember that production machines never go onto the internet, so turning off firewalls and factory original antiviruses is amongst what he`ll do. There are many other chores he`ll know too.

This is one of those pure guesses, but the problem could be right under your nose. Since the timer is rolling but there`s no video it seems to mean that the computer is saving the files too automatically. While you should also check by manual (make that brains,) means where they are really going, the first thing to check would be if the takes are always flunking into test mode, never released to regular mode.

Todd, Oliver`s last comment is the same as I think. However the paint by numbers quality you`re getting won`t improve mentionably with patching. It`ll just patch, and patch, and patch. Although you`ll have to re-do some steps to be sensible, haven`t you noticed that the best needed software at the moment is in the topic right before this one?

MS-Dos itself, is in an old connotation, FAT16, not FAT32, if hard drives. However, since 32- bit OS Windows use MS-Dos7 internally not MS-Dos 6 or earlir, that, is FAT32 not FAT16. 128 GB maximum per regular full sized volume, not 2 GB. Use FAT 32 whenever you can in Windows if you can get along with the mere size of 128 GB per partition or volume. NTFS presents the same volume or partition size in older “service packs” but with security breakdown problems. Even my Windows XP machine gets pre- formatted with FAT32 off of a FDisk, followed with a restart and Format procedure off of a Windows 98(se) disk set. It works better and faster. Windows after Windows XP won`t install directly onto a FAT32 formatted hard drive. It has to be blank (zeroed) before formatting. A 2GB or smaller hard drive can be formatted in FAT32 insteadof FAT16 to mention, but that is merely using a small volume “percentage”. (Off to dinner).

Also zero- out the hard drives and retry if you think they picked up data that doesn`t make sense. But check the previous things first.
