eSATA not working on MAC PRO System
I just installed a new eSATA PCIe controller and connected a Fantec (35DUS2) HARDDRIVE (2xDrives).
Because my system didn’t recognized the drives I connected the Fantec with USB2.0 connection first.From the DISK Utility I created 1 RAID0 partition of the two drives (4TB total).
Everything worked fine. Then I Ejected the drive, disconnect USB and connect the eSATA cable.Again there is now drive.
I Checked my system profiler and notice the PCI card is visible (PCI 1095, 3132).
I also checked SATA connection, and cant see the two drives again.I also installed the RAID and NON RAID driver from Silicon.
There is still nothing visible.Does anyone now what it can be?

Did your eSATA card come with any drivers that maybe you didn’t install?

No, there wasn’t even a DVD or CD-rom in the package.
I also checked the website. From there I installed the newest driver.
But for MAc it’s a bit new to me. You can’t see if the driver is installed correctly. -
Since you are new to Mac, after you downloaded the driver, did you double-click on it and install it (you’ll see the screen where MAC OS asks for your password, etc…)? And then I would reboot and I would assume that would be it. What card are you using? I just purchased one from Sonnet and had the same issue until I loaded the driver.

The card is from Silicon (3132).
This was the ‘ driver’ I installed.* SiI 3132 Mac OS X 10.6.x BASE (non-RAID) 7/14/2010 1.2.5.0
After installation I entered my password and reboot the MAC.
No result.I also tried the RAID version.
* SiI 3132 Mac OS X 10.6.x SATARAID5 7/14/2010 1.7.5.0
THat results in a raid manager program, but it still doesn’t find my eSATA disks.I’m running OSX 10.6.5 on a MAC PRO system.

I just connected my Fantec Drive to my macbookpro via eSATA.
everything works fine. The drive is recognize as one 4TB drive.So it seems it has something to do with the PCIe card form silicon.
I’ll wil change the card form slot 4 to slot 3 or 2. and see if it works.

I changed the PCI card to a different slot (4 to 3).
No result.Changed the eSATA cable
No result.PCI card is visable (slot 3, driver installed “YES”).
Serial ATA device is not visable in the tree.Hmm, I’m wondering whats still left to check?!?

I’m sorry you’re having to go through all of this. I would try calling tech support for the card and see if they can help.
You can always run a few utilities (can’t hurt) like ‘disk utility (in applications > utilities folder) but that always just feels like grasping at straws.
What is the computer you’re working on? On a few occasions, my firewire port has just stopped working and the only fix for that is unplugging everything and then unplugging the power from the wall and waiting five minutes for it to reset – which it does. Just random ideas but I think calling or contacting tech support is your best bet.

Also zero- out the hard drives and retry if you think they picked up data that doesn`t make sense. But check the previous things first.
