The settings in Options > Preferences > Preview device are mostly the same, except that:
1) “Use RGB Studio (16-235)” has been renamed to “Adjust studio RGB levels to computer RGB” -> still there anyway
2) however the ICC profile selection has disappeared in 11Also, the Color Correction FX had 2 presets for mapping 16-235 to 0-255 and vice-versa, and those have disappeared in 11…
(N.B.: I translate to English the labels from my Vegas French version. The actual English labels may be different – and use a far better English than I do 😉 )

Couldn’t it be that you had a zoom applied in the work area, making you believe that framing was OK, whereas in fact, it wasn’t?
My 2 cents,

Hi,
I had that a few weeks ago – and also with a strange background color while loading. It has come back to normal now, I did not figure this out until I read your post right now.
Did you try with various browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome)? In my case, it was only occurring with IE, and it was fine with Firefox.
Might be due to some heavy ads on the left/right hand side of the pages? (which would explain why it occurs only on Sony Vegas and not on Basics, if ads are forum-driven)
Hope this helps…

Hi,
Which version do you have? 10? 11? other?
Did you have a look at the LOG files located in a directory like:
C:/Users/[you]/AppData/Local/Sony/Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum/10.0
These LOG files usually contain useful information about the reason of the crash.
Please let me know what you find there…
Hope this helps,

Thanks again!
And as you seem to know FCPX well, what is your point of view about its built-in white balance tool?

Thanks for your remark.
As I told you, I am brand new to FCP. I had the feeling that pros where pushing strong to get FCP7 back (and I’ve read that Apple has put it back for sale on their US site), and that FCPX was just not an option for them. But that’s simply my impression, and I am here to gather feedback, to change my mind if necessary.
Thanks again,

Thanks for your inputs.
Maybe my post was ambiguous: I am not a Sony employee, but a third party developer.
Best regards, additional inputs welcome!

October 28, 2011 at 11:07 am in reply to: Color Correction: How to make these two match!Hi,
I have made a test with a plug-in I wrote for Sony Vegas. The screenshot below shows:
1) the original picture (top-left)
2) the original picture modified with my plug-in (bottom-left)
3) the target picture (right)I am considering porting this plug-in to FCP, please let me know if you think this would be of interest.
Hope this helps,
Best regards,—

October 19, 2011 at 5:20 pm in reply to: Video card survey: SVP11 and CUDA accelerationHi,
Do you experience preview lag? Yes – but overall it’s much better than 10. I can preview in optimized mode, which was not possible for me in 10.
Are you editing multi-cam? No – but I am having lags when 2 tracks are combined through transparency (should be the same issue, as there are twice more data to handle in both cases)
Edit format: AVCHD
Multi-cam tool: none
Make and model of your video card: GTX460 (don’t remember the brand. Asus or Gigabyte)
Amount of RAM installed on your video card: 2GBFrom my GPU perf monitor, I can see that lag happens even with the GPU is loaded at 6-10% only (a pitty), and the video card RAM is far from being saturated. So it looks like the bottleneck is the bus speed to transfer data between CPU and GPU (because the CPU is not fully loaded as far as I remember).
@Angelo: I don’t have the scripting API doc with me, but I am pretty sure it lets you access the aspect ratio property of an event. I am amazed that Vegas modified the input media, but if it does so, then changing this property from a script will probably update the media?
Hope this helps,
Frédéric—
