Thank you both for the replies,

I am not sure what you mean about it being interactive, though, that is not what I’m after. The script I am after is just to save me having to manually change the input and output time for each and every composition.

Say you have 100 layers of the same pre-composition, and you just want a script that randomly chooses a frame within each one to play from, so that they all start from a different point in time within themselves. Surely there must be a way to do that?

Ok I don’t know if I’m being really silly but the code on that page, it is mean to be added as an expression for a layer’s opacity right? After effects is giving me error: Timeout while waiting for the engine. expression disabled.?

John I have opened up your project file and seen what you have created, it is exactly the effect I wanted, and have replicated it for my scene and it looks great! It’s also cool to know that if I wanted a more realistic look I could paint the depth myself pretty easily, so thanks again for the help 🙂
