I tried it and doesn’t work. Is it because I have 10.1.1?

I totally feel your pain! Im in the same boat and find FCPX to be a real pain in the ass! Why did they not have a “Unlink” feature or in preferences to not unlink anything. Why Apple chose to listen to a hand full of editors to create unecessary features on FCPX was selfish and obviously did not give a s*** about the mass of other Final Cut uesers.
If you find out how to “unlink” the “Link” feature please let me know.
