This is most likely reaching the 2 GB file size limit too quickly when using grouped audio clips. We have the same problem and it sounds like you are on the right track with match framing the audio to the originating clip and replacing it. There is an option in the OMF export to just utilize the audio tracks in the sequence, but I’ve never got that to work myself. I think it just a button that they decided to place in there and hope they’ll find a way to make it work someday.

Hey Brian, I do what you are doing right now for a living and you have the right idea. Unfortunately there is no mathematical equation for you situation that I know about because if your cameras were not synced up (jam sync, ran through one deck, etc.) then you can’t really calculate this. You would need to find out how many frames you are off and in which direction and then account for the drop frame camera’s timecode. Seems to me like what you are doing (grouping by in points) is the best way to my knowledge. It’s time consuming and sucks, but the most reliable way.

I agree with Scott. I work on a couple Food Network shows, one six camera and one eight camera shoot. It works great and if you synced your cameras correctly in Production the work to group these clips is next to nothing. You put the clips you want in a bin. Organize them from top to bottom (what ever is on the top will be in the first window and so on) Select all the clips you want to group and then just hit CTRL-shift-G. If your clips are synced correctly then sync by source timecode. If your clips are not synced then you will have to sync them and that is a bit of a process that I won’t go in to in this thread. But Avid Media Composer is well worth the money.
