    I think it’s still unclear what I want. I think it’s much simpler. Here is an example. Let’s ignore the report part for that.

    I got a lot of layers in one comp. Each layer has to be rendered separately with different render settings (for example: interlaced/progressive). All I need is an attribute on each layer to let the render script decide whether a layer has to be rendered interlaced or progressive. I could do that by checking the label color, the first character of the name or look at an applied effect. For example, a simple slider could do that. (0= interlaced; 1=progressive).

    All I’m looking for is an option to create my own „effect“ which says interlaced/progressive in a dropdown/radio button menue.

    thanks Dan. I was talking about an UI for an effect. What I need is a place to store some meta-Information for a layer. This Information is used to set specific render settings per layer and to create a detailed report after the rendering is finished.
