This is the nature of SD broadcast video. Everything is 720*486, only stretched differently. How do you go to DVD? Which software do you use?

If you want to view your clip correctly in QT player (7), open the clip properties (command J), select the video track and scale it to 864*486 PX.

  • The Version V8.2.3 does not run without the hardware boards at all. It needs the boards e.g. to decompress the video files.

The new Media 100 SUITE V2 does work as software only, or with your Kona cards. And you can open your old V8.2.3 timelines and media files (just with HUGE speed and workflow improvements). So probably the easiest way would be to get Suite2, or at least the free 14day trial version and install it on your FCP system. The on
Y thing you should be aware of is that you right now need to stay below MacOS X 10.6.8, since Apple broke the Media100 i codec with the latest update.

[noah wight] “I’m trying to export a program range from an ntsc 601 16×9 line and it’s coming out 720×486? Driving me nuts. What is the setting I’m missing? suite 2. thanks. N”

NTSC 601 16×9 is 720×486. Where do you want to go from there? E.g. for DVD the resolution is right. For Web viewing you should convert to H264 or another codec anyway, then you can do a proper scaling as well to compensate for the anamorphic pixel aspect.

[Jim Wiseman] “What drivers for AJA LHi are best for Suite 1.7.1 with 10.6.5? 10.6.7?”

Have a look at the release notes of your version. You can find them in the “Launch” section of your “Media 100 Suite” menu. There is a section about minimal and recommended software components.

[Rich Johnson] “What about a fix to the TITLE ISSUE in Boris Red? “Media 100 is busy while the clip is being edited.” I’ll say. Like forever!”

    Rich,

I´ve done several hundred titles in Boris Red 5 with Suite 2.0 and 2.01, and never had this issue. Please could you post a step-by-step description of what you are doing to get to this message? To me it sounds like you don´t “Apply” the title from Red to Media 100; sometimes the “Apply” button in Red is not visible all the time, and if you simply close all Red windows you will be stuck.

July 27, 2011 at 1:56 pm in reply to: Media 100 Crash at launch

No, Rosetta should not matter. What is happening when you open the application?
One thing you can try is to launch the app with the Shift key pressed. This way you avoid opening the last project. If there is a corrupt media file in your project (that gets opened automatically) you maybe can prevent the crash.
Did you upgrade to 10.6.8 in the meantime? There is a bug with Media 100 i media files and 10.6.8; something that Apple broke with the MJPEG-B codec that maybe (hopefully) will get fixed sometime by Apple.

July 27, 2011 at 1:53 pm in reply to: Applescript for audio pan?

Can be done in ApplesScript, but even much easier in a timeline:

Drop all clips in a timeline; right-click the A1 area of the audio track and choose “Pan Track…”; in the next window to “Center”
Take a mono audio track and drop it on A2 (good if the clip is long); CMD-C (Copy) it, move to the beginning of your audio track area and CMD-V (Paste) it several times in a row; copy the range again and paste. Pretty quick to get rid of a huge range of audio tracks.

Wow, not that´s a problem. I would try to attach a monitor to see if the error message goes away. Not sure if it is related to the missing monitor.

I think they are not officially qualified, but I am working with them for quite some time without issues.
