Having just gotten into motion graphics within the last year, I have been trying to find that out myself; the answer seems to be, “it depends.” But at the risk of sounding like I should know, it seems Zaxworks Invigorator and anything from Trapcode.

This question seems to appear frequently on the Creative Cow forum, so maybe this link will help. Atleast you will see there is a broad opinion on your question, but Zaxworks and Trapcode is mentioned often:

In pro it is Animation Presets>Synthetics>Melted Gold>CC Mr. Mercury

I don’t have standard, so I can’t say about that package.

I am preparing my first demo reel and I have the same dilemma; to what extent is it plagiarizing or a creative endeavor of one

Yep! Overtime, as programs are added and deleted, the registry becomes a problem (possibly even becoming corrupted) slowing down startup and the operation of ram intensive programs.

Two possible solutions. First, reformat the harddrive (not for the faint hearted). Or two, I have seen programs advertised that are intended to clean up the registry, but I don’t know if any are good. Maybe check with CNET.
