Tom Knight, Thank you!
“Just went to Premiere Pro>preferences>audio hardware>Built-In Output> OK”
This simple fix transformed my huge project from a brick back to it’s original functionality. I’m on a really tight deadline, too.

Hello all Compressor users,
I just found a fantastically simple solution to this problem (but I just found it with Google, so you probably all have by now as well.)
https://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/my_compressor_issues_solved.html
I closed Compressor, then these two commands, when I entered them into Terminal, solved the “verify installation” problem:
sudo qmasterprefs -reset
sudo qmasterprefs -restartI have not yet tried to restart my computer after entering the commands, however, so we still have to wait and see if it’s permanent. But it’s a very quick fix. Thanks to Jon Chappell at digitalrebellion.com

June 19, 2010 at 10:18 pm in reply to: drop out problem in JVC related to electronic problemDear Ian,
I hope that you finally got something from JVC.
On my end, I chose to compromise. It too me many months of calling and writing, asking for superiors and getting BS answers (like “we can’t guarantee performance quality on all NLE systems…” and I’m using FCP!). Finally, and sadly, I had to get a lawyer to write them a threatening letter, at which point they offered me a “focus” hard-drive to back up the tapes. I accepted this compromise with a shake of the head, and the only conclusion that I can draw is that HDV is too packed an algorithm to reliably write to tape. The hard drive works very well, even though it adds weight, heat, noise, and setup time to my rig. At least there are no more dropouts.Again, I hope you got everything resolved. I’m now using the tapes as archives solely, and capturing from the hard drive. This tells me that the next camera I buy is going to be solid-state. Panasonic? Or maybe Sony, but I’m afraid of heavy compression.
Best,

September 23, 2009 at 7:37 pm in reply to: drop out problem in JVC related to electronic problemDear Ian, et. al.
I use the JVC GY-HD200UB.
My editing suite is FCP 6.0.6I have been struggling with the same dropout problems, and so far have come to no complete solution. I was interested to hear that the dropout rate had to do with the voltage supply–I had not gotten that far in determining the source of the problem.
The closest approximation that I could achieve to salvage my interview footage was to capture using the Apple ProRes setting in FCP. This helped reduce the frequency of the dropouts, but did not solve the problem completely.
I, too, hope to receive a refund from JVC. We’ll see how that goes.

“FCP is helping you by making these separate clips.”
FCP is NOT helping me by making these separate clips. FCP is making these clips at random, multiple times, in the middle of interviews.
I use FCP 6.0.6, and the closest approximation that I could find to a solution is to set my “capture preset” to “Apple Pro-Res.”
Pros to this solution: fewer (but not eliminated) timecode breaks, and fewer lost frames in between.
Cons: No batch capture capability. Just a “capture now-esque” function.
I have since read the myriad of problems that FCP users have with JVC hardware. I am never going to purchase a JVC again, as long as I edit on a map. (It might be worthwhile to note, also, that no JVC devices are supported by FCP7…yet. Ever?)
Good luck to the unhappy JVC FCP users out there.

September 10, 2009 at 1:24 am in reply to: Final Cut Pro importing HDV 720p30 or 24 footage in segments?I have been experiencing the same problem, except with the GY-HD200 series camera and 60p. I also have updated FCP (6.0.6) on an Mac Intel. I have tried importing using ProRes 422 and Apple Intermediate Codec, but still get the mysterious dropouts and clip divisions, with missing footage in between.
I have tried every allowable combination of device control presets and capture presets that I can think of.
From what I have read, this seems to be a problem between JVC and Apple, and Mr. Sabourin and I are not the only ones experiencing it. It is a serious problem. Unless there is a pending software/firmware solution to it, Apple and JVC should publish that they are mutually incompatable, immediately.
Does anyone have a solution?
