    thanks for your response. If i capture standard DV PAL which results in a 4:3 image, it’s going to give me all sorts of problems editing it and applying gfx etc as i won’t really be able to tell what they look like 16:9.

    Is the Sony Z1 not a true 16:9 camera then? It seems DV PAL 720v576 doesn’t realy allow a true 16:9 image. It just rescales it to fit inside a 4:3 image. Is that correct?

    If i change the properties to anamorphic is this just viewing settings rather than output?

    Ultimately i may be exporting to the web…does that make a difference?

    thanks for your advice. i tried resizing the images to DV PAL format whch is 720×576 and now they appear tiny in FCP canvas at 100%. I don’t get it.

    Presumably they should appear at the standard frame size? I don’t get it.

    Confused….any ideas
