    Hi Everyone! I too, need to repair my G2 ew 100s. I think my issue is the antennas are broken, I get interment cutting out and I have switched lav units many times (I have 3). Is that something Eric or Ty can help with and if so how much for repair? I will email Eric also but if anyone knows of a repair shop here in Denver that would be helpful also.

    Thanks! Everett

  • Yes I can do it that way too, I just use ML since it’s easier I find than stoping and going to the menus. I have a fish eye that does open up manually (Opeteka brand) but I find it gets almost “hazy” at wide open (not sure why) so I keep it closed down most of the time.

  • Wanted to update everyone about this since I first posted, I was an idiot about the 50mm, I had to go into my settings on ML and open up the aperture, I feel silly but always want to own up to my mistakes. I have shot a few projects with it and had much improved results over my standard lens. I just finished this video;

    and there are a few shots it was handy for, used it on this interview and a few other shots;

    You can see it really knocked down the depth of field which is what I was after. I shot in a hospital the other day, which is why I need it also- hide faces of patients (Hippa law) and it was awesome. Really worked well in the dark hallways outside patient rooms, just what I was after- more light and lower DOF.

    Any other lenses you guys would recommend? I would love a wider focal length lens like a wide eye/fish eye that can do that. I have wondered about “macro lenses” for example, stuff meant for close up shots but I could use in the hospitals I work in a lot for example.

    Thanks for the advice and sorry I goofed on using the lens, learning new things is what life is about!

  • Guys, thanks for the insights, I will go get the lens out of the packaging and give it a go again. I think I will check my settings for sure. I am using Magic Lantern and can tweak some things.
    But I still wonder about shooting video with the Lens baby, I am supposed to get together with my buddy and try it out. Anyone else shot video with any of Lens Baby lenses?

  • What is funny is I bought that lens just a few days ago since it was described that way, and man was I disappointed! It was only one F stop better than my 18-55 lens and I compared the same shots back to back with it and really saw no improvement in what I wanted (lower Depth of Field). I am actually going to send it back, I felt stupid ordering it without trying it first (show rooming- I know retailers hate that!).
    I am looking through my B &H catalog and saw the $1600 50 mm that has an F 1.2 setting and not sure if that would be better, crazy price though!

    Thanks for the response! Everett
