Xto7 is a good option, untill you want to send to Motion.

I’m surprised it works with new XML version. Takes me one step closer to upgrade.

[Bret Williams] “I didn’t care much about trimming and handles. But I wanted to lose the clips that weren’t used, but retain their logging data.”

Here is how you can do it (before 10.1):
    1) Duplicate Project for safety and close FCP
    2) Hide original project and event
    4) Copy original CurrentVersion.fcpevent file, paste into new folder in “Final Cut Events” and launch FCP
    5) Make sure project is associated with that new offline event and do Relink Project files

That’s it. You now have only used media in “Original Media” folder, but event contains all the info you had logged.

    Hope that helps.

    Things are even worse…
I’ve created SD sequence, put one HD clip (clip “A”) on main and connected another (clip “B”) to it. Now, I only have to Disable “B” clip to make “A” change its properties to 720×576. And if clip “A” had spatial conform set to None and re-framed some way, then it shrinks accordingly, as its 100% became 720×567. Easy way to make your timeline a mess…

Spatial conform remains unchanged – Fit. But you made me wonder, what will happen, if i set it to none? Will the clip scale up to 1920*1080 or it will sort of obey it’s new properties? I will check that tomorrow, when i get to that project.

I’m on 10.0.7, if that matters. And i must say, that changed properties affect the image quality. If i drop a “fresh” instance of the same clip on top (or add to audition) i can see the difference between two – “corrupted” clip looks a bit more blurry.

    Jeremy,

I constantly see the same behavior of clips (changing its properties) with HD files in SD timeline. Frame size changes to 720*576. I haven’t found any dependancies. My recent timeline has HD clips on Primary, i’m sure they have never been in Secondary. But at some moment they’ve lost properties. May be after consolidating project, or after relinking some files, or somehow noone knows how… That’s really annoying.
