I know this may be A VERY, VERY, VERY LATE REPLY and i’m so sorry i just found this.
for the sake of other members’ concerns, i’ll try sharing this..
I encountered the same problem,
i tried those but none is effective:
1. made an .eps file uploaded to AE
2. made a solid object and copy and pasted the vector
3. made a large comp then resized it to smaller scale and put
the comp to main compostion..
This was my biggest frustration really
but discovered a technique for this!
1. on illustrator, better resize your pic to a bigger size
2. make a solid in AE, and better make it in another composition a bit larger than
your main composition (and it’s on another composition this makes it more flexible
and practical when you’ll have to edit elements in vector, i.e. animate per point, etc..)
3. copy your enlarged/resized vector and paste it directly on your solid object in AE, and
voila! you got crisp vectors in ae..
But this seems to have a limitation depends on the size of your vector. but i won’t make it super big as it can eat up a bit of RAM or the file’s size.
This can do the job and hope i helped a lot..
if there are other method, just feel free to comment. I have so much to learn and to improve
