Sorry for the confusion, I didn’t know that the eSATA II PCI-express card that I have been using to connect my G-Tech drives is a controller card. I thought it just added eSATA ports to my computer… shows what i know:)

The whole hardware vs software controller (port multiplier) is what confused me. So the ForteRAID is software controlled. That helps me understand some. I think Glyph making such a big deal about the Oxford chip lead me to believe it might be hardware controlled, again, shows what I know about RAIDS.

I guess I’m a little confused. I thought this system had a controller. The spec’s on the RAID says it employs the Oxford 936 controller chip. Is this not a RAID controller?

I figured I just hook this system up via my eSata card and configure it as RAID 5 using their software utility and then I’m good to go, but your saying I would need to get RAID controller card also?

Like I said, I’m a little confused…
