How wrong is the footage? Like frames off or the whole clip?

The clip length will be correct, but it the in/out will be offset.
EX
Let’s say the first clip is 15 frames later in in/out. Not that bad if you’ve given some handle cushion. But the next clip will be 30 frames off. The next one, 45 frames off. Also, if the clip is long, the next clip might be 5-10 seconds off.

From what I’ve observed, for each minute of TC, the In/Out will be 2 frames off.
EX
I log
1;00;00 to 2;00;00 with simulated 24p into a 29.97 project, and when I display source TC, the in/out is displayed as 1;00;02 to 2;00;04 – it has a pattern to its offness.

Now, if I log a clip and then “capture in/out” in the capture window, it never misses the clip. ONLY when I log clips does the footage TC get off.

I’ve done tests logging 24p and 24pa footage into 24p and 29.97 projects on pro and non-pro decks. You can definitely see the difference in TC.

The problem I run into is that no matter the footage or the project, I still have problems batch capturing. If a clip is short, there isn’t much problems. But if the clip is long, or I capture a series of clips, I get the wrong footage.

Could you specify some tests that would expose this 24p 24pa problem?

It’s an option under Edit:Preferences:Media
Sometimes Premiere will capture according to the video in/out, which is usually off by a few frames or a few seconds. When I ‘display the footage in source framerate,’ I can see how off the video in/out is from the media start/end and log in/out.

I have this problem with both 24p and 24pa footage, thought there is no mixing of the two on tape or logs.
