  • Hi Grazie,

  • Hi,

I just wanted to add that the easiest way to move lots of things at once in Vegas is by using Parent/Track tracks in Vegas. You could put all of your little boxes stacked as you like on many tracks in Vegas. Then make all of those tracks the child of a single track above them which will be the parent track. 3D Track Motion on the Parent track will move all of the individual boxes at once together.

Then you can have individually specified movement of the many boxes by using the regular track motion on the child tracks. This would allow you to do exactly as I saw at 2:08 into the video.

    Hi Aaron,

Well, I did it. I bought the AMD rx480 card and installed it. VegasPro14 no longer crashes so it is happier. The playback is better than before but certainly not anywhere near as good as the performance I get in Premiere Pro with the Mercury Engine software. Sure wish I could edit in Premiere Pro the way I do in Vegas but each time I try, I come crawling back to Vegas. It would be perfect if I could get the playback quality of Premiere with the editing capabilities of Vegas!!

The only knock I have against the RX480 is sometimes the fan gets really loud. Like both fans are running at 100%. The only solution to stop this is to reboot the computer. This tells me there is a bug of some sorts but not sure how is easy it will be to solve.

    Aaron,
Appreciate your thoughts. I knew my card was old but I didn’t realize it was a piece of crap. I had reasoned that if nVidia was still updating the driver for the card that it must be of some value. I have priced a RX480 card here and am considering making the purchase. Not that geeky and wanted to make sure I am not running into some sort of slot problem in the computer. A single PCI Express slot is all that is required right? Wonder if I would need to upgrade the power supply also. Again, many thanks for your input.

Thanks again! Feels great to get a fresh start with VP13. Now if I could just figure out why Quadro4000 board with latest nVidia driver doesn’t work with VP14. I get a gpu memory error (as in not enough gpu memory) with crash everytime. The Quadro 4000 has 2gb of memory onboard.

    Hi George,

I am on build 453. Did you mean that I should update to the latest Magix version of VP13? Thought that was a copyright update only.

GOOD NEWS! The delete the cache option DID resolve my problem! Wondering what that is all about as I really have no clue why that would fix things. Valuable lesson learned. Thank you!!

I forgot to mention that my video card is the Quadro 4000.

I uninstalled several pieces of software; I checked ram settings and no luck.

One other interesting tidbit is that VP14 works fine also! So 12 and 14 good, 13 bad.

    Thanks Paul,

I am considering the items you mentioned. Uninstalling a few things and trying to find whats conflicting with VP13 as I agree with your premise. On Windows 7 is there a consensus on the best nVidia driver for VP13/VP12?

Will let you know what I find.
    Thanks very much,

Just simply a way to help troubleshoot the problem. Sometimes when I have unexplained weird things happen…I try to work in a different version of Vegas and many times it is a way to revive a problem project.

I was thinking that you need to get out of Vegas 14 and back to Vegas 13 or even Vegas 12. Can you export a text edl from Vegas 14 and then import that into another version of Vegas? I realize that you have probably lots of effects, etc. but if you really need to reconstruct and finish maybe this could work for you.
