Actually, I had just consolidated a bunch of fonts into the Library/Fonts folder from my Users folder. Was trying to eliminate duplicates and extra fonts and make it easier to manage.

Maybe I just hosed myself and we all know what a good feeling that is.

Apple seems to have the 1.1 version available for download but not the 2.0 that ships with FCP5 which I reinstalled. That didn’t work either.

It used to work, now it doesn’t.

The refurb route may be the way to go and It’s something I’ve been considering anyway since it doesn’t look like any significant PPC upgrades are coming soon. I don’t mind the move to Intel if it gives us a consistent supply of faster hardware and greater access to current video cards.

I just hope this doesn’t affect the expansion of the FCP market. I’d hate to see Apple lose business to Avid or PC products because of uncertainty about the availability of up to date products. Apple may be taking a short term hit on hardware sales and even purchases of its pro video software while the roadmap remains murky.

I was planning on buying a G5 this year and now I’m really unsure of what to do. I don’t want to be stuck with an outdated G4 for too long. From what I’ve read, there’s still a lot of vagueness about the transition. I’m worried the old G4s and G5s will lose all their value as the software transitions?

For all the supposed ease in the transition that Jobs touted, the timetable still seems to be 12-24 months. There must be issues he doesn’t want to talk about. Do we have to wait at least a year and maybe two for a powerful video editing desktop machine. Not sure which chips will be used, updated P4s, Itaniums, dual-core, multi-processor?

Jobs said all projects at Apple have been developed with both systems in mind, I assume the Suite is a part of that. Would love to hear something soon from the FCP development team on this transition with these products in mind.
