12 hours!! No. you could sync up 2 or 3 DVD players to play one after the other. Maybe get close to 3 hours on one DVD with avg picture quality – depending on what kind of footage your using

If your main concern is that you need it to looks good on a computer then I would go with Progressive. This case is definetly am exception though. Alot of deinterlacers out there do a good job. I guess it all depend on how your end users are going to use your DVD.

NEVER deinterlace your footage if it was shot interlaced..you lose half your temporal information. The perfect situation would be to have all progressive footage then to set the P flags during the encodes. This would look great on both computers and set tops.
Players actually add the 3:2 cadence when going through the composite output.

Just remember…DL burning is a fairly new technology and will not work on all players.

Not sure where to find them but Ive seen them at most everyplace Im been looking for regular sized DVD-Rs.
Just a note…I would avoid using them! I did a title for a small business a while back and many didn’t play.

try a google search. i don’t believe ive ever seen a writable DVD on one side and a CD-r side on the other.

You could try menus over video – that way you have control over the encooding process.
