Yes you can install a Blu Ray burner into a Mac but there are no authoring tools yet available for Mac. Toast will burn to BR but for data only – not to play in a Blu Ray player.
DVDSP has a blue laser option but they’re talking about HD DVD – both formats use a blue laser.

A Blu Ray burner won’t you much good since there are no Blu Ray authoring tools for the Mac. DVDit Pro HD will work for Blu Ray

The AUDIO_TS folder was reserved for DVD-Audio titles. Players only look for the VIDEO_TS. However, there were a small portion of earlier players which had reports of problems when no AUDIO_TS was present. I always include it just out of habit.

Well true…but like I said its “…pretty much over” – as in not yet but very close. I was talking about what can be done with a thousand dollar tool compared to a multi thousand dollar tool. Yes..these flame and smoke artist and their tools aren’t going anywhere. It’s so well entrenched in that environment, but the same work can be achieved for much cheaper.
It’s very similar in my field of DVD authoring. Even if you came out with a better, cheaper and more powerful authoring tool many folks still would stick with Scenarist. But that thin line is getting thinner every year.

Depends on what your talking about. For editing, most places use an Avid or FCP system – and this goes for most Hollywood productions with cash to spend. For compositing After Effects can do most of what your see on TV or in films with the right artist at the controls. The days of “high end” and “low end” tools are pretty much over – its all talent now.

You bet there are advantages:
1. You save an extra step by not adding pulldown to your 24p source.
2. You save space because you will not need to encode those “extra” frames.
3. You allow the option of the user playing back 24 frames if their player will handle it.

Yes..8 are allowed by the DVD spec and DVDSP

Lay down your video. Lay down your audio tracks. You can create a menu to choose which audio track you want played and set that up in the button inspector. Not really sure how you want the disc to function.
