I’m not to familiar with authoring tools on the PC side except Scenarist but I believe Adobe Encore will do you just fine for now.

An authoring tool will not be the place to design menus. For that you’ll need photoshop, illustrator and compositing programs like After Effects or Motion.

Here’s a good book to get you started:

There is no Best. The best is whatever works for you – it all depends. What kind of problems are you having with Encore?

    Aloha

You have 2 choices for Blu Ray – Encore and DVDitPro. Compatibility is not so good on BD-R/RE. It depends on the player manufacturer.

DVDSP works for HD DVD playback on DVD-r just fine on all HD DVD players.

You have some good looking work there. I’m only guessing but about $35-$40/hour range but it all depends on the employer.

These guys know as much about BD/HD DVD technology and the future of digital media as my grandmother. Reminds me the news story where they get an “expert” to comment on the unfolding action.

Remember, 5 years ago many clients wanted VHS. Digital downloads have been available for years now and have failed. I won’t argue that it MAY be reality someday but this is so far in the future. Lets live in the now and not start talking how vaporware will kill the next gen format.

Unfortunately this is something you can’t do in Encore.

    Hi Dennis

Scenarist and Blu Print costs anywhere from 30K to 60K – not counting the encoder which can run you another 30K. Basically authoring a BD disc for replication will be in the hands of highly specialized developers and expensive equipment for some time to come.
