what are the source codecs and resolutions?

i’m not sure uncompressed 10bit would help. it’s really no different than ProRes when it comes to 10 bit YUV encoding. It will probably display the same bug.
If you have the capability and the hard drive space, you could render out to DPX and use that for encoding to H.264. I’ve worked with a few post houses that have replaced Quicktime codecs such as ProRes with DPX or other non-Quicktime codecs to avoid bugs like this. I’m gonna try that today with a TV show i’m delivering.
I don’t suggest rendering H.264 files directly in Resolve. No one mentioned it, but in case you’re thinking about trying it, don’t. I’ve found they look way more compressed at a similar bitrate compared to Compressor, AME, etc.

Most likely it will be fine. It might not be a bad idea to do a quick test by encoding some short H264s and DVDs.

the infamous Quicktime gamma bug?
do you have FCP7 or Premiere on your system with an HD monitor hooked up to an output card? if so, playback that Quicktime and see on the HD monitor if it matches what you saw in Resolve. if it looks correct, it’s the Quicktime bug. This has been an issue for like a decade.
if the file does look different in FCP7 or Pr, do you have a display LUT applied in Resolve? that will only show up on your Resolve monitor and not be applied to the file export.

Hey Dwaine
How is the new Resolve 9.1.6 Lite with either Eucontrol 2.7.1 or Eucontrol 3.0? I have 9.1.1 at home and 9.1.3 at work, both with EuControl 2.7.1 and everything works perfectly, so i’m leery of upgrading.
thanks

hey Eric
The 780 and Titan don’t require additional power in a Mac Pro?

Hey William
As you can see by the lack of responses thus far, the members of this board probably won’t share the info you’re looking for. Unlike the other forums on Creative Cow, the SAN Networks forum is mostly populated by individuals and companies selling products or services in this space. Most of my clients just want a solution right now and don’t want to tinker. The ones that do want to tinker to save money, realize pretty quickly that they don’t have the time they thought they did. You might find the information you’re looking for at other, more server-centric forums on the web.
I can tell you that many of the NAS boxes that the big guys sell do use some of the software products you mention. But they are highly customized and money is spent on R&D and support to make these boxes perform reliably at their peak. It takes a decent amount of work to make these boxes “plug and play”. So they won’t be very willing to share those settings.

They were used by other people on other projects, but they worked fine as far as I know.
