Yeah, and easy to forget too! Tripped me up just the other day! 8^)

July 9, 2013 at 2:01 pm in reply to: LoopNnn varieties: combo In and Out?

Nope, that does NOT work– loopIN only loops the keyframe set BEFORE ( into ) the first keyframe, as expected.

What I’m looking for is something that will loop both before and AFTER. A combination of both loopIn and loopOut, if you will.

    Inward, in this case.

I faked it w/a bitmap and scaling w/mucho motion blur. I guess I coulda made the bitmap using Shape Layers, but I hadn’t even HEARD of Shape Layers until 3 weeks ago.

  • So….::crickets::… that’s a no?

While what you say is true Dave, one CAN cut and paste a mask into a path, so they’ve already accomodated whatever complexities exist once.

It certainly may come to that as a practical matter, but that would chain me to whatever I rendered out as an explosion, multiplying files. I’d prefer something all in one project.

And, after all, it ‘should’ be possible, with all this technology. >;^)

July 7, 2013 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Cut/Paste Shape Layer shape to Text Layer path?

That will work, although preplanning it will make a big difference, because the text insertion point is in the middle of layer… test test test…. Actually, I’m not certain there’s any ‘layer’ beyond the text that you type in, but the DBLCLK Rectangle does create a mask that covers the entire comp area, so I guess it does?

Found an oddity– see attached pic: DBLCLK Rectangle on a Text layer created w/the Text Tool does not create a mask that covers the entire layer, nore even the entire (entered) text: it made a mask the size of the comp, but centered on the text insertion point. There’s logic to the mask placement regarding the text Justification setting, but it’s a little surprising. This one is Left justifed:

–Yeah, the mask seems to always be centered around the insertion point, and is the size of the comp, even if that causes entered text to be cut off. This one is Right justified:

July 7, 2013 at 4:30 am in reply to: Absolutely no Sound Even in Ram Preview!

Because Americans don’t use the term ‘full stop’ all that often, I believe the commenter is referring to the ‘decimal point’ on the numpad for audio ONLY previews.

Also note that there are RAM and SHIFT-RAM previews, which can have separate settings, including muting the audio– if things get really mysterious double check that your normal preview mode is set to AUDIO ON.

July 5, 2013 at 6:15 am in reply to: How to change the length of a effect?

Worst case: SPLIT the layer, and apply the effect to the newly created layer.

But there’s more than likely somehting to animate: in this case, try animating the FORCE1 Radius from zero to something >0.

July 4, 2013 at 4:43 pm in reply to: Cut/Paste Shape Layer shape to Text Layer path?

John, you are correct, BUT there’s an offset I’m still trying to figure out– one gets the correct shape, but it is offset from the original screen location of the path.

It MAY be relative to the target layer, considering that Masks are relative to their originating layers: that is: while the screen location of a mask is one thing, it’s relationship to its layer is another, and pasting to a new layer probably conserves that relationship rather than the screen position.

BUT, at least I can paste! Mucho obligado!

Dang, i thought that was what I did, but perhaps not.

THANK you John: I’ll give it another shot!
