    I hate to necro this thread again, but I was searching for another issue and came across this one.

    For future searchers, I believe the issue here is the folder structure that the media is being stored in. FCPX detects certain folder structures as being on a Camera/Import Device. If she had consolidated to a new media location (external to the Library, which I generally recommend anyways), her issue likely would have disappeared immediately.
