    Hi Salvador,

Can we do today 2pm Japan time or do you prefer tomorrow sometimes?

Anyone else who would like to see a demo in 1/1 session more than welcome.

  • We from DDP can mix USB 3 and Ethernet and almost double bandwidth. This test was done with 2 years old Macbook Air.
    HD 10Bit uncompressed anyone?

What do you think about this?

This is our tests using the two Sonnet box and DDP. What do you think about this?

We also found that SanLink2 would not play nicely with ProTools. Cut cut story short, when you have 2-3 hours Video/Audio together, audio will be off few seconds. Using the Sonnet box solved our issue.

    Hi Bob,

You have said “It is my opinion that your IT director should be fired immediately” based on perception that IT Director did not hear about DDP or Terablock.

You also said “Now if you are talking about Ardis Technolgies Dynamic Drive Pool, they are in the Netherlands. Are you in the Netherlands ? Who is going to support your product?”

Well, based on the same logic, you should also be fired as contributor, or not be taken seriously based on above as you becoming biased.

DDP in US is distributed and sold by Cinesys/Oceania, who happens also to be the largest Autodesk distributor and reseller in US and Canada!?

Related to Salvatore, well, if you are going to spend some 20K + my recommendation is to see demo on all products mentioned, same as when you buy car, you need to try it out.

On link bellow, there is one article with client who recently replaced XSAN (the one you have) with DDP.

Also as I would like to help both to you and Bob, and anyone else, lets organise online demo and spend hour or so and learn something about award winning shared storage by IABM – International Association Broadcasting Manufactures.

    Wish you great day

  • Hi David,

Eric is right but also wrong when he says that he doesn’t believe in FC vs 10GbE. Yes it is also to do with files, how they are positioned, size but also to do with FileSystem!

In general FC has lower overhead then 10GbE but in practice with right system, things could be very different.

Here it comes NAS vs SAN thing.

For example with DDP – Dynamic Drive pool (which is IP SAN), we can use multiple 10GbE from single Myricom or Silicom card and get max performance of around 1500MB/s from Z800 or top the range MacPro which can enable us to even push 4K uncompressed in the real time which we have demonstrated at NAB this month. This our technology we call it MCS – Multiple Connections per Session. You can of course use Dual 1GbE, similar to ISIS5000 with the difference that with our Storage System we can push even more data (up to 10Bit HD uncompressed with 2 cables) but also you can combine up to 4 x 1GbE from the same PC/Mac.

Many NAS people call this Bonding or Teaming which is wrong. Only with SMB 3 which is implemented Windows 8 and Server 2013 this is possible, but in reality with NAS systems this is used for Load Balancing or Failover as NAS systems have lots of overhead especially when you using large number of clients and multiple streams (you get more latency and not sustained performance).

DDP great speed comes because we are IP SAN and have our own iSCSI and our own FileSystem.

As you are using Avid’s I can tell you that we have something similar to ISIS and Unity and that is Avid colored bin locking with a difference that you do not need to setup your projects or users in order to share the data unlike some other solutions, and this means your PC can share same projects with a MAc and have red or green indicators on their bin, depending who opened first bin).

So why don’t you contact our distributors in US Cinesys Inc. and ask them for a demo? On our Facebook page we posted few videos from clients running similar setup to yours so please check it and have good day.

    Hi Richard,

I am from DDP and I am glad that you run into our booth. As you said you have currently 3 WS with 35mb/ps each stream with Premiere.

That is around 4.5MB/s per WS with lets say max 4 streams each, it all come at worst case scenario around 55MB/s.

Getting any shared storage system as mentioned above by Bob (he forgotten DDP which is he, like many others doesn’t know of), it would be ridiculous even when you get total 6 suites next year as long as you run with the same bitrate.

So i recommend you to make by yourself little box with Raid 5 and use it as a NAS share. Just searching the Google you can make it by yourself and save lots of money which you can invest into one day when you start working with much higher bitrate.

When that happens, please contact all my colleagues from different manufactures as well as myself and I am sure you will make right decision then.

In the meantime have great day and once again thanks for visiting our booth.

    Elvin
