Hello, I really appreciate all the advice in this thread. I am a professional editor, but having stepped away from the industry for a few years (freelancing on smaller projects and working on my own system), I am feeling a bit behind on today’s hardware options. For my own suite, I have a now ancient 2009 Mac Pro that I desperately need to upgrade. I see a good deal locally on a 2010 12-core Mac Pro with a Nvidia 8800GTS 4GB card, but I am not sure it will run Davinci Resolve. I read the system requirements for v15, and only the 2013 Mac Pro is listed. Of course in a perfect world I would be able to run the latest Resolve and successive updates, but I’m not expecting miracles.

While I am a long-time Avid and FCP editor, I made the switch to Premiere Pro since it was an easy leap and compatible with my current system. I am shooting 4K Sony for now, though that could change, but I do need a system that can edit 4K smoothly.

For now I only need HD video output. I have a Panasonic HD broadcast monitor with SDI, HDMI and DVI inputs. I finally scrapped my Kona LHe card and am currently using a Blackmagic Intensity Pro. I also have a USB-C pcie card.

Any further advice is greatly appreciated!
