Thanks for the quick response James, but that doesn’t seem to fix the problem. I cleared the local prefs using the key commands you recommended and also deleted the cache files. Despite this, Premiere still seemed to have my (local) custom keyboard settings, called “Eli_cc2014” afterwards. Note that these are new settings created on this computer, not the corrupt ones in the cloud.

Then I went into my sync settings and told Premiere to “always upload settings”

Then I chose “Sync Settings Now”. It prompted me to enter my Adobe ID and password. After the program restarted, all of my old “cloud” keyboard layouts (which are corrupt) still showed up in my keyboard options.

The two bottom ones: “Eli_Keys” and “Eli_Nov” are old settings from last year that I can’t seem to get rid of from the cloud…but they at least are a telltale sign that my cloud user settings are not being overwritten by my local user settings when I try.

Having signed in with my Facebook account, the Cow is treating me like a new user, so my posts have to be approved first…so my last response still hasn’t come through, but here is an update. Despite what I said about the cadence being correct, I tested your workflow on some clips from other movies and to my surprise it worked perfectly! Which is HUGE. I don’t know why the cadence for this movie looks correct and AE is able to guess it and remove the pulldown, yet Premier cannot. I assume it isn’t guessing the correct pulldown, which is where that contextual menu you were speaking about would come into play…but I’m still not seeing the option that you are talking about…I’m sure it is right in front of me and I’m just not seeing it. Could you walk me through the process of having the program guess another cadence if it gets it wrong by itself? As I said, AE had no problem guessing it and removing it, so it seems odd.

I’ve already done this and the field order is correct and there is proper 3:2 in the clip (it is an HDCAM SR capture of a classic film from a national broadcaster…not that that is saying much, since I have been given plenty of material with field problems from networks, haha…but this is pretty much a master of a major classic film). I’ve run the clip through AE and successfully removed the pulldown by having the program guess the cadence. What I’m looking for is a way to do it all from within Premier and never have to do the AE step on future projects.

Thanks for the response. This sounds amazing, but I’m just not seeing how it’s done (or done correctly). If I create a new 23.978 timeline and drop my 29.97 clip (which originated on film at 24p and has correct 3:2 pulldown applied) and then step through the clip in the timeline I no longer see any interlaced frames, but now, instead, I have a clip that when stepped through one frame at a time holds every frame for two frames. If I right click on the clip (from the timeline), I see some field related options, but nothing that says anything about pulldown. Also, not sure when you wrote the word “advanced” whether you were referring to the dvcpro advanced pulldown (24pA) that was introduced with the panasonic DVX100…but if you are, I’m talking about standard telecine 3:2 pulldown, which is a different pulldown cadence than that. The only programs I have ever had work to remove this traditional pulldown are Cinema Tools and After Effects. Despite people telling me the contrary, I have never successfully removed pulldown within an NLE and had a clip look correct (granted, I’m really only talking about FCP 7 and below and Premiere…it has been a long time since I used an Avid and I’ve never used Vegas or the like.)

Thanks for the response…honestly not trying to be snarky at all, just trying to get to the bottom of this. Maybe I am not following your advice correctly and if not, maybe you can be more specific as to the exact way to do this. Thanks again for the help!
